NOISE BBC RADIO PROGRAMME - YOUNG & JOBLESS2012-02-15 14:14:14Over the next 4 months NOISE works with BBC Radio 5 Live and Wise Buddha to co- produce a series of programmes examining the barriers faced by the growing number of young under and unemployed people in the UK. First-hand accounts will come from 4 young voices; Danielle (County Durham), Richie (Newcastle), Karen (Mansfield) and Craig (Wigan) to highlight the cold-facts of the youth unemployment crisis. On their journeys NOISE will pair them with successful business leaders, who will mentor them. We looks beyond the usual 2D statistics depicted in the mainstream media, by giving a voice to the young people now feeling the burden of a recession they didn't create. They'll present their own manifesto for change, in the form of a documentary, broadcast in May, with Government ministers and business experts. BBC Radio 5Live Deputy Controller and Commissioning Editor Jonathan Wall said: "This is a really creative project and is exactly what the Northern Development Fund for independent producers was designed to do. It has brought together people from outside the BBC who otherwise wouldn't have come together to share their ideas, and teamed them up with a 5Live news team that has just moved from London to Salford. We haven't done a project quite like this one before, so hopefully it will pave the way for many more in the future." Want to hear your views, thoughts and input about the issues raised during these programmes. Art of Protest at London's Roundhouse2012-01-20 00:00:00Following the resounding success of the pop-up NOISE 'Art of Protest' exhibition in Manchester, NOISEfestival.com brings the project to London's Roundhouse for an exclusive one day exhibition on Saturday the 11th February, from 11am until 5pm to coincide with the Un-Convention at Rising 2012 event. The exhibition showcases iconic, creative, non-violent protests as part of the charity's national, curriculum led learning project 'Re-Masters: The Art of Protest'. The display shows work from leading international artists like Banksy, Turner Prize winner Gillian Wearing, Stella Vine, Billy Bragg, Katherine Hamnett's anti-pershing missile T-shirt protest to Margaret Thatcher, leading German artists Joseph Beuys and Thomas Peiter, and Tedd Church's photography of John Lennon & Yoko Ono's Montreal Bed-in; in addition to leading protest pieces by the best of Europe's emerging creative talent from the arts portfolio site NOISEfestival.com. The exhibition also includes the NOISE Charity's positive response to last summer youth riots, with an international compilation of photos from young people in Berlin, Madrid, Valencia and Manchester that identify their protest issues.
