The NOISE Festival 2014 Curator for Photography is award-winning, Greater Manchester native, Elaine Constantine. Elaine is world -renowned for her colourful pictures featuring British youth and her involvement with The Face, i-D and Vogue.
We caught up with Elaine and asked her about her journey up until this point in her career. How she got started in Bury Camera Club, how she developed her signature style and her tips for aspiring photographers. She even shares the advice Nick Knight passed onto her, before she exploded onto the UK Photography scene through her work with The Face and i-D.
She’s predominantly self-taught, and learnt on the job as Nick Knight’s apprentice. Her directorial debut and book, “Northern Soul” tells the tale of two British boys who discover American Black Soul music in the seventies and is set to release later this year. It’s a project she has wanted to do for years, having lived through it herself.
Check out our exclusive NOISE Interviews for some advice from one of the biggest names in British Photography.
