We go completely virtual with the launch of the NOISEfestival.com 2008 festival, hosting a party and month-long exhibition on Second Life (3D virtual community) – the first of its kind in the UK!
The launch do is streamed live onto the BBC Big Screen in Liverpool City Centre, as part of the launch of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. The public and press are invited to visit by logging onto the Manchester and Oldham Second Life Islands, where they can network with specially developed ‘Avatars’ – including NOISEfestival.com Curators Badly Drawn Boy (who controlled his pixelated-self live in the NOISE office), and Zaha Hadid, plus a selection of NOISEfestival.com talent who are operating their avatars live. All this is set to a special DJ mix by Liverpool’s No Fakin, DJs of the best NOISEfestival.com music.
The virtual exhibition showcases the best work from 9,000 submissions.
