Benjamin Finney's Expertise

soundcloud.com/bloodchoke www.facebook.com/Benjamin.Finney.Music I studied Popular Music and Recording at the University of Salford and graduated in 2013. Here i developed my general approach towards how I compose. Which led to me creating a body of ambient guitar pieces which I have released under the name 'BLOODCHOKE'. Currently I am looking to pursue a career in composition, develop my skills further and perform my music more.

University of Salford

Qualification:

BA(Hons) Popular Music and Recording

Location:

Salford

Skill

Guitar Teacher

I started up my own guitar teaching service where i teach guitar lessons to primary school children once a week.
I started this with the idea of getting children to play a musical instrument and enjoy playing their instrument.

Skill

Composer

Recently I composed a peice of music for a student film. I have uploaded an edited version of this peice which I have titled Wild Fish to my profile.
I was given the brief of creating a dark atmospheric peice of music that would have hints of a film noir element to it, as the film was in a film noir style.
The experience was enjoyable and has given me assurance that this is something I want to do.

Everything Everything presents: Chaos to Order

Role:

Emerging Musicians In Residence

Location:

Manchester Central Library

"Ahead of Chaos to Order, Brighter Sound gave a shout out to musicians aged 18 to 25 who wanted to be a part of the Everything Everything Central Library residency. In collaboration with Liam Frost and Sara Lowes, the chosen musicians set out on an intense week-long project of writing and performing.

The musicians described what a unique opportunity the residency offered, not only the space and inspiration to write, but the chance to collaborate and have their material heard in a radically different live venue.

At the end of the week, the group performed their original compositions for the public. The multi-layered piece ranged the musical spectrum, from dream-pop, to raucous folk, to a crazy round performed with children’s toys, to rap, to soaring vocals, and back again. The crowd who assembled to hear the performance on Saturday lunchtime in the Library Café were drawn in by the music and stayed, afterwards praising the professionalism, variety and sheer inventiveness of the work. We are all looking forward to seeing more of them in future."
