Richard Hughes goes about exploring and materialisng ideas of memory, faith and Legacy. Interest in the emotional attachment we all have for our own and loved ones past he uses strong elements of materiality to invent and construct sculpture and installation that creates a ‘very personal experience,’ whilst commenting on those universal elements of human existence.

I completed my placement at the Manchester College in Northenden UK. I have
Received Grade 1 (outstanding) for my teaching, categories include, teaching (1,) Explanations (1,) Filing, administration and record keeping (1,) and grade 1 for my approaches and characteristics. I have had zero absences and I was able to document over 500 hours of sessions.
I have worked extensively with level 2, 3 AS and A level and National Diploma: Foundation Art and design, Furthermore I have worked with students who have English as a second or other language (EAL), I have made diagnostic use of the BKSB functional skills program and I worked with students who have needed additional learning support (ALS). I have worked across campuses in a large institution of FE; engaging fully with the requirements of the role of tutor and working effectively with college management and colleagues.
My Teaching and learning experiences have allowed me to become a strong and effective communicator, using strategic, differentiated planning and delivery to engage people and develop inclusive conversation and dialogue. This has been within research and contextual contexts as well as practical and behavioral sessions.

He is Interested in the emotional attachment we all have for our own and loved ones identity and history and how this effects our present experiences, values and attitudes. The work uses strong elements of materiality to invent and construct Text, Sculpture and Installation that create a‘very personal and uncanny experience,’ whilst also commenting on those universal elements of human existence. Interested in the idea of Schemata, Hughes emphasizes our inherent differences by exploring familiarity in object, image and environment.
