“THE FIVE BEST PORTFOLIOS WILL COME AND WORK WITH ME IN MY STUDIO IN EAST LONDON AND WE WILL WORK ON AS MANY DIFFERENT, DIVERSE THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON IN THE STUDIO AT THAT TIME.”
Leading fashion designer and twice ‘British Fashion Award’ winner, Giles Deacon regularly dresses celebrities including Kate Moss, Daisy Lowe and Angeline Jolie after cutting his cloth at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art, alongside the likes of Lee McQueen and Hussein Chalayan. Much of his success can be attributed to the relationships that he had formed in university, where he regularly staged parties with like-minded people, who have remained helpful to one another in their growing fame. Student raves with friends like Jeremy Deller have evolved into career defining collaborations, such as the pair’s 2012 London Olympics “Untitled” exhibition. In 2003 he launched his own collection “GILES” after designing for Bottega Veneta and Gucci , plus freelancing for labels Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs. With help from stylist Katie Grand, his work was featured in American, British, Japanese, Italian and French Vogue as well as being bought by Harvey Nichols, Liberty and Selfridges. He continues to supply to Harvey Nichols, Avenue 32, Piaf and Je Ne Ses Quoi, to name a few. In 2007, Giles collaborated with New Look and has branched out into nail varnishes and a makeup collection for the high street brand.
