Wood work and metal construction for large scale theatrical show
For me Sculpture is one of the most fulfilling genres of Art as it has a tangible physical presence within our own sense of space. Tactile 'Objects in the Round' cry out to be touched and observed from different angles. In my own work I am influenced by many things however there is an underlying current of surreal humour to my pieces. Characters and creatures fascinate me and I wonder how, if they could, my sculptures would move, behave and feel. Edward Cartwright is a Multimedia Sculptor who utilises wood, metal and glass amongst others to create original quirky sculptural work. He was bought up and educated in the West Midlands in a town called Stourbridge famous for its glass making history, after which he took a BA degree in Contemporary Crafts at University College Falmouth in Cornwall, A part of Britain that has always been an inspiration to him. He now works as a self employed Sculptor/Maker splitting his time between his own work and assisting other established artists such as Tim Tolkien in larger public sculptural pieces
