Work overview

I am inspired by memories and the idea of how to preserve them and make them personal. My main interests lie in the history of Coventry, my home. My work focuses on lost industries such as ribbon weaving, watch making and the motorcycle and motor industries; all of which have disappeared over the last century as well as in the recent years. I aim to provoke thoughts from people of different generations and hopefully from those who share memories related to my work. I use textile processes to communicate my ideas; in particular silk screen printing, digital printing, and machine embroidery, creating three-dimensional textiles. I am interested in the concept of revealing a ghostly layer element revealing the past with in my art work, while still creating a feeling of age and vintage. I describe my self as a ‘History artist’ using fabric to convey my ideas and inspirations.
