Arts Award Part C: Arts Inspiration
Sharon Lockhart is a photographer and film maker who displayed her work during the biennial at FACT. The exhibition is based on the time she spent in Poland working on a film called Podworka.
The film focuses on children and how they use everyday environments as play areas. During the filming and the workshops she set up for children in the area to help them form their own perspectives from the world and during this she became close to a woman called Milena who inspired her next series of photographs.
She also did a lot of work and research around the history of child rights which led to her work on the little review panel of a historical newspaper. This gave young Polish children a voice in their community that they otherwise would not have had.
Here are some photos of Lockhart’s’ work that I took whilst I was visiting the FACT gallery.
